lyrics

If I could only reach you-
were my arms fashioned into swords
so I might cut into clocks' face
and rend time,
cleaving meaning out of an eternity,
eviscerating the permanence of space
not shared entirely with you;
that we would not define
ourselves by our humanity,
and I could say I see your blonde head
as a renewed field sprawling
upward at a limpid dome
made for no one's observation.
For what is outside us reflects us,
also, our shining metallic souls
running through the unmapped
science of our bodies,
and if we were to try to learn
about each other for once
instead of piecing together imperfect
legends based on half-heard lover's
compromise,
then we would maybe see
the grandeur of our immediacy,
the faults that bring us balance
and sharpness,
bracing cold without boundary.
